The Boat Skipper Category C (Voditelj Brodice Kategorije C) is the highest-level recreational boating certificate in Croatia, offering a wide range of privileges for experienced mariners. With this certification, you are permitted to operate both motorboats and sailboats with a length overall (LOA) of up to 18.0 meters. Importantly, there are no restrictions on engine power, making this certificate ideal for handling larger, more powerful vessels. Unlike the lower categories, the Boat Skipper Category C allows for unrestricted sea navigation, meaning there are no limits on how far from the coast you can sail, providing complete freedom on the open sea.

This certificate also grants the ability to navigate in navigation areas I and II, which cover both international waters and long-distance coastal routes, making it suitable for more ambitious voyages. Additionally, holders of the Category C certificate can operate yachts up to 30 gross tons (GT) for commercial purposes, allowing for professional or chartered sailing. This makes the certification attractive not only to recreational sailors but also to those pursuing boating as a career or business opportunity. Moreover, the Category C license allows the operation of personal watercraft (PWC), such as jet skis, due to the unlimited engine power provision.

Compared to the other Croatian boating certificates, the Boat Skipper Category C provides the most comprehensive set of privileges. The Boat Skipper Category A, for instance, limits vessel size to 7.0 meters and engine power to 15.0 kW, with restrictions to navigation areas III and IV, which are closer to the coast. It also does not allow the operation of jet skis. The Boat Skipper Category B offers more freedom, allowing boats up to 12.0 meters in length and no engine power limits, but restricts navigation to 3 nautical miles from the coast and also permits PWC use. However, neither A nor B grants the commercial rights or the ability to sail in open sea that Category C offers.
